Jewelry Project inspirations part 2 – color combination tips

Where do you find inspirations for your jewelry projects?

This is part 2 of ??? (I still haven’t decided)

jewelry project ideas, finding the right colors

Where to find inspiration for your jewelry project color combinations

If you know me, you have probably heard me say that I am cursed/blessed with the love of bright colors.  It’s hereditary.  Lucky for me… bright colors have finally come into their own.  You now see vibrant colors on walls, in furniture, and automobiles.

Where do you find inspirations for your jewelry projects?

I tend to move towards a monochromatic color scheme.  I sometimes feel  that this approach lacks “punch”.  I’ve tried various color wheels, but this is basically starting from scratch.

If you’re new to design and don’t quite feel comfortable doing it from scratch (I’m whispering conspiratorily in your ear:  buy my kits) some great places to get ideas are fabric stores, (or you could just buy my jewelry kits – Yikes!  more gratuitous self promotion) the department store or fashion or home decor publications.  Why not take a cue from the professionals?

Other easy inspirations  for your jewelry projects are:  wall paper books, scrapbook papers even wrapping papers.  I’ve even been inspired by carpet (well,  not the carpet in my car… but Vegas has some mighty fine colors on their floors  KA-ching!)

I’m not advocating piracy of course but were you to attend “design school”, you would first study the work of other designers.  Once you’ve acquired a mental reference library of your own,  it will become easier to put components together for your jewelry making projects.   Like anything else,  it just takes practice… or practice makes perfect so practice, practice,  practice.

PS:  Please forgive my gratuitous self promotion… I’m just feeling a little bratty today.  Hope you’re smiling :-)

Bead happy!
